Good to see another analog amp emulation. Deluxe 55 aka 5E3 Tweed Deluxe.

Quote from the website: "This compact pedal simulates 6V6 power amp overdrive, valve rectifier sag, ragged phase inverter distortion, and the fat gritty tone of the Tweed Deluxe’s unconventional preamp – including different valve types."
It would be nice to look under the hood..

I've heard a few demos and it seems like they have really concentrated on the super saturated aspects. They're the bits I am least interested in with a 5E3. And if the 5E3 is properly biased it doesn't behave like that anyway! I suspect that "collapsing on itself" sound is more a result of wall voltage being too high these days. Reduce the plate voltage by 30-40V using the stock cathode resistor and the sound is much chunkier with less saturation and more punch.

But I would like to try the pedal.

One other 5e3 tip to control the distortion is to add a 470k resistor at the grid of the phase inverter. This eliminates blocking distortion.

Looks like a sag control and, lol, you want distortion diodes - you got ‘em.

It looks like they samples the amp then built a curve and then let AI generate a circuit to implement the curves.. hence the balmy number or diodes.

I have the big revival drive, with the screw adjustments on the front. I cracked it open, peeked, and rapidly screwed it back together. Yes, not a DIY! The ghosting that it can do (output transformer singing along, makes me think of Altman Bros sound) is uncanny. When I first heard it I thought something was wrong with my amp.

Yep, similar to the Cali 76.... stacked PCBs loaded with SMD components on both sides. The Cali is the one pedal that I started tracing, took a break, pushed it aside, and finally decided "Yeah you know, no thanks...." and put it back together. Maybe one day... maybe not.

That's an awful lot of BAV99's in parallel...

Yup. Definitely a case for PCB Assembly and not DIY!

Unless one is planning to "tweak the low end a little" or something absurd like that, I think I'd just buy one in this case. :ROFLMAO:

Check out the Revival Drive schematic.. powers section is huge (circled in red).
Green looks like preamp, blue - phase inverter, purple - power amp (with 42TM022 transformer). Last section - eq?

The irony...

Random Boutique Pedal Company: "Completely original and unique circuit design, unlike anything you've seen before"
(Removes clipping diodes from otherwise stock TS circuit)

Origin Effects: "We based this pedal on the Ibanez® Tube Screamer® for a reason."

... I'm just waiting for the CDB edition. :D @Chuck D. Bones

Could someone breadboard this and let me know if it works?
