new phone

So for a brief moment I had a Samsung S23 Ultra, and OMG WTF YMMV but Samsung had replaced all the tried and true Android routines with Sam-Sung-ized Beta software. It literally interrupted itself during install to tell me to change settings and retry, ON A BRAND NEW PHONE. ***Beta***

Result *none* of *any* data transferred from my iPhone 7. Hit reset, and sent it back.

I got my iPhone 14 Pro yesterday on the $45 a mo x 24 plan, and every single thing came over from my old phone to the new one. Had to enter passwords for everything, but I think it's a good thing that the phone doesn't know my passwords, and ergo cannot transfer them. Five minutes and the deed was done (I have a 500Mbps fiber optic to the house connection.)

Anyway the phone has now become a part of my CNS and indeed I am become borg. :sneaky:

I just switched from an older Samsung to the 14 pro this weekend. It has been a very positive upgrade for me and I couldn’t be happier now. Spotify finally works in Bronco!!! Congrats!

Nice, I got an iPhone 12 over the weekend, up from an XR, so it was a step up. Been in the telecom industry for 14 years, I’m kind of over the new phone every year thing. Chose the 13 cause it was cheap. I’ve moved on to spending too much on guitars. 🤣🤣🤣
This was actually my first New new phone. I've always gotten 2 year old phones to save money. I figured I'd see what it felt like to have a new phone. This is one *fast* processor in this phone tho. Nice to have.

Oh yeah, it’s a great phone, I’m a huge Apple fan boy.

I have an iPhone. I don't know which version, which frustrates my son! When I bought it I only needed a new one because my old one's battery gave up. The guy at the store was amazed I was still using it. They ask me - What do you want to do with the phone? So I answer "make and receive telephone calls". Seems I'm the only one. The irony of smart phones seems to be that nobody uses them to make phone calls any more. It's all texts and emails, FB group chat, etc.

I had to admit I do like the apple stuff. The only down side is things becoming obsolete. I have a perfectly working iPad 1 that won't support even Netflix now! So I had to upgrade it to one with half the battery life. Sucks.
Also the idea of a new phone every year especially at hitting upwards of $1.5K is absolutely crazy. I don't know how people can do that.
Im on an iPhone 11 and its only my third phone in 15 years! Say what you want about them but they seem to last well for me.

I've known people that leased cars for 1 year, because they always wanted a new car. iPhones are kind of the same, you buy one on the 24 mo pay plan (no interest) pay 45 a month for a year, then trade it in after a year for $700. I have never bought into that methodology myself.

As far as things wearing out, well, I bought a really nice pair of wallaby's 7 years ago and the damn things are almost worn out!!!!! You'd think they'd make shoes that last for decades, but I guess not. :sneaky:
