nice bass!
Some time ago i bought a squier bass the affinity precision PJ model, i didn't want to spend thousands of euros for a fender precision, but i wanted a similar sound and playability. At the end of the day i spend 215 euros for the bass and 250 euros for modifications, seymour duncan quarter pund PJ pickups, all electronics redone and an original fender bridge. I compared my bass with a friend's American fender and I can confirm that the difference, especially in recording, is imperceptible.
I put some qpounds in my drummer's mexican p bass and that thing is great. Sound wise it's definitely different than my 74 but if that was ever stolen I'd prolly throw those in an affinity too. Actually that's lies, I'm spoiled and would sell off gear to get another early 70s p. But I'd think about the affinity for a minute. I guess I can at least admit that I'm too fancy for my own pants.
Best. Knobs. Ever.
Of course that’s highly subjective, but they are my favourite.
Garnet amps used this style; I’ve seen some old studio rack gear with them, too.
I found some in a little shop in HK and bought every last one including the larger one in the display case. I tried to order more, but the shop owner couldn’t or wouldn’t get them anymore.
Recently I’ve seen them in cream colour, too, just online though. Wish I could find a supplier, I’m meting them out only in special builds and loathe the coming day when I run out of my stash.
Boy do I have some good news for you, especially if you like red knobs.
