Novice Question: Toggle Switch Leg Order?

According to this diagram shot, How do I know which leg on the switch is leg 1? Or does it matter? I feel pretty daft asking this, but hey, how else do you learn without potentially making a mistake?

Just make sure you get an on-on if that's what you need,
or an on-off-on if that's what's called for.


Also, it may help to know that the bat points away from the connected lugs.

There are days, indeed. I mounted a footswitch - A FOOTSWITCH -upside down a couple days ago.
