Good callHow I started my Monday morning.
Love me some Guided by Voices! Their whole approach to writing music is admirable: 1.) get drunk + record jam, 2.) find 2 minutes of genius, 3.) Let Robert Pollard craft it into a pop gem. Their best work even uses the original demo recordings rather than re-recording it, so it still has that unadulterated emotion of creation.Very rare that I get a two hour block of no meetings during a workday. Nothing like a live set of GBV to listen while I do busy work.

I actually grew up in Dayton and played a bunch at Canal Street Tavern, where GBV used to play legendary local sets:
I didn't go there, but Robert Pollard taught 4th grade at Lincoln Ige for years, even during the band's heyday. Gold Star for Robot Boy was inspired by one of his students at the time:
One of NZ's biggest exports after Kiwifruit and Apples...?I'm back on my bullshit lol new wave kick again keep coming back to it, I grew up with this in the background so I'm not gonna dream it's over
