I already have a Vox NuTube amp and thought I'd eventually build a NuTube OD Screamer. I wanted it a bit different in that I wanted to expose the grid section of the NuTube device. It gets a nice glow when powered up. I musta measured 37 times for every possible way to mount the NuTube device so it is up against the inside of the enclosure. Then to match the carefully machine squarish holes in the enclosure to line things up.
I just used the two grounds for the stand-off pins and then carefully wired up some tiny 28ga wire to match the remaining pins of the NuTube module to the main board. I ran several practice runs of wiring & stuffing so it would work out right. And I finally got it.
I used a MadBean "Softie" for the stomp. I felt it would reduce the opportunity for the NuTube to go microphonic when the stomp was depressed. And it works a treat and is very quiet. You can hear the ever so slight hiss when the circuit is engaged. No audible click-pop at all.
This circuit is very nice and drives my Vox MV50 (NuTube amp) very well. Crank it and the balls are obvious.
