I built this one knowing its reputation in Nashville, but never having played through one before. It was a straight forward build and is stock except for the IC. I subbed a TL072 because I had it.
Having demoed the circuit with my son’s telecaster, I can see why it’s loved by the studio guitarists. At a clean setting the guitar is just “more”. It can then push into light to medium gain tones without coloring the sound of the guitar and amp too much. I like this.
For the paint scheme I was originally going off of a “moss” idea, but after trying to use a toothbrush to splatter different colors of paint and not really liking the results, I just started going Jackson Pollock on it, flinging paint with abandon. I kinda like it.
