Last of my winter builds, this turned out to be timely as my old Weller soldering station decided to crap out (I've ordered a T22 to replace it). As I've had plenty of practice lately the build was unproblematic and it worked first time. As usual, I was very careful about inspecting solder joints as I went, and the days of putting wrong components in, or the right components in on the wrong side/place, are behind me for now.
I used BAS33 diodes rather than MA856, but I doubt that 1N914 would be much different.
In use I found it similar to my old AionFX Cerulean build - which is a hotted up bluesbreaker so its not surprising. Pedal has very nice tone, but even with Turbo and Lift switched on, the Gain knob has to go beyond 2pm to be relevant.
It works well with my Tweed Deluxe, which isn't always the case.
So now I have 10 overdrives to compare, of which I built 9.... I think I'll do another amp next.
FYI: of the ODs I have built, the 'Clarkster' (my Clark Gainster clone, and my first build) is still my favorite. The Robin Trower Overdrive (Tower) comes close.
