Q: Why the hell does the voltage from my power supply read 9.48v, but when I plug it into the pedal it drops to 7.98v???
A: The reverse polarity protection diode is probably backward.
Just wanted to document this for any future travelers. Spent a good hour troubleshooting this. I have a large supply of 5817s that are old and the silver stripe on the Kathode end has worn away on most of them.
