There is no app, it is just a desktop icon for your browser to directly open the forum. useless! Click on „install“ it’s just a video about how to add a link.
Just the sort of bias-confirmation I was looking for.
Probably a placeholder that came with the forum-template, should Robert ever buy a true app for the forum from the service-provider (or develop a forum-app).
It didn’t bode well when I searched for threads/info about the app and NOTHING came up.
Nothing to see here, folks, move along, that’s right, just move along.
EDIT: Maybe reconsidering considering, given the following two posts…
The app is a chrome-less fullscreen window, it doesn't add any new functionality that I'm aware of aside from the homescreen/desktop shortcut but it's more than just a shortcut. I think previously it was the only way to enable push notifications from the forum but they're supported in most browsers now.
I use it on my phone because it runs as a separate instance from my web browser and makes popping back and forth to the forum easier.
It’s unfortunate that PWAs never became widely adopted as a target platform. Everyone knows what an app is. But a pwa is just “a link to the website”, rather than it being another app. It just happens to be built on web technologies, and can be installed without relying on an “app store”.
When I can’t build, which is a lot of the time, the forum is my escape and entertainment, an outlet for some creativity if not a rant, and with some educational content thrown in to spice it all up.
