I feel like a tool posting a build report for this but Chris insisted and I want to spread the word on how much I’m enjoying it.

@thewintersoldier reached out to me before Christmas and asked if I’d be interested in him building me a Rat. I’d never played one and he was building one for himself so I agreed.

I’m short, I’m a convert. It has the crunch and grind always missing from a good fuzz pedal and it feedbacks and sustains just as effortlessly. Of course it lacks some of that ragged and wild charm of a fuzz but the pros FAR outweigh the cons on that front.

I took my Hybrid Fuzz Face off the board in preparation. I had a guy on TGP who bought my Silicon Fuzz Face over Christmas and he had asked if I had any else like it and Viola!

I’ve got my Enhanced Fuzz Face/Forum Fuzz/“The Fuzz” board designed anyway so I’ll scratch that itch again with refinements.

I'm still convinced the Fuzz 2022 project is going to be a Rat.

Through shooting the breeze with Chris, we came to the shared conclusion that one of the favorite fuzzes we ever played was the big light blue Dunlop Fuzz Face, the JHF-1 I believe.

I took that circuit and added a few enhancements to cut down noise, RF, etc.

So it will be a tuned Silicon Fuzz Face.
