Greetings,
I couldn't troubleshoot a Spirit Box a buddy of mine tried to build, so I ordered a new board and repopulated it only reusing the ICs, PT2399, pots and Belton Brick. It was a bugger to get the Belton Brick out of the old circuit, and I want to verify the new build works before I solder it in. Belton Brick is making contact with pads, but not soldered in. I'm getting a fizzy tail at the end of the tone. When I touch the pots, it makes a popping/scratching noise almost like the sound an old preamp tube makes. When I dime the depth knob, it almost oscillates into feedback. Could it be the circuit is not shielded enough? Could the Belton contacts not be 100%? The 10k pot only metered 9.28k, but I don't think that contributes to the noise. Has anyone experienced this? Bad brick? crappy pots? I've tried new TL072, but I haven't tried a new delay chip.
Thanks.
