Howdy y’all.

I had been meaning to fix this one up for some time, but could never remember what was wrong with it. I just opened it up to find that the circuit board was broken where the screw grounds the board to the case.

What’s the best way to go about fixing this? My gut is telling me to remove the tiny piece of broken pcb that’s sandwiched between the screw, and the enclosure. Then put the pcb back in and screw it down. Maybe I would also remove a little of the silk screen to have a little more real estate to ground to as well.

What do you think?

Does the pedal actually work? Not having the case grounded would not stop function. What you have proposed would work, but if the is the only ground point for the case then I would arranged something else (through a pot casing or a jack plug maybe) just to make sure the case does ground.

It works intermittently with a power supply. I think the power supply ground is tied to this screw.

If I pull the circuit board out of the enclosure I get no sound when running off power supply

I would also just check and make sure that the broken piece hasn't broken any traces that connect the ground to other parts of the board. It doesn't look like it from the photos, but you are in a better place to check :-)

It’s just a tiny piece of the circle that’s broken off. All other parts are ok

It’s the only thing holding the board still. Very bad design. If you push hard on the power jack, the tiny sliver of pcb just snaps off.

...Will the circle, be unbroken? Not in this case!
