Heyo! Been a minute since I last posted a build report. I put together this Skeptical Buffer build recently, and am pretty stoked with how it turned out. In terms of the way it 'sounds', this bad boy buffs. Kind of hard to record a demo of just a buffer pedal, but it adds to the clarity of my guitar in a way that is generally pretty good. To be honest, I'd probably just keep it on the "Low" toggle most of the time, as I found the "Harmonics" and "Bright" toggles to be just a smiiiidge too buff for me. Or, for my rig, at least. I think this also lends itself more to longer pedal chains, darker amps/guitars, etc. etc. Kind of a weird pedal to just have by itself. All in all though, it does the thing its supposed to do, and I'm really glad we have a DIY option to save ourselves some money.
As far as my fabric journey goes, I think I've cracked the code with this one. I tried out the fabric specific Mod Podge on my last couple of builds, and with some trial and error finally got to a place where I'm happy with the process and how the pedals are turning out. The fabric podge is way thicker than just regular ol' Mod Podge, which can make applying it a little trickier. I changed the brushes I used to apply the mod podge and that made a huge difference as well. I've found that those foam square type 'brushes' make the process of applying everything much easier and smoother, as opposed to brushes with bristles that get all clumped up after a few uses. Still working out the best way to get the exact proportions and folds for each piece of fabric, but it feels neater each time I put one together.
All in all this is a pretty straightforward build, and if you're in the market for a buffer it seems like it's a pretty versatile option.
