Source audio Artifakt

Such a strange pedal for them to go for! They're all about supreme digital recreations, so... Quite a pleasant surprise. A good grab to get a wide range of deterioration. I guess I was a bit early to the party and need my multiple units to get close to what this thing can do by itself. Curious about the fine tuning going on via the editor. I might actually grab this as my second compact box of them (besides the EQ2, which is amazing). Love the Nemesis and Ventris as well, I always go for those two when I just want to play / practice right that instant.

I had a Source Audio Collider which was a decent sounding pedal but a bit of a pain to use the presets with, and the sounds were good but didn't blow me away. I replaced it with a Flint and a UA Starlight - the Starlight in particular is amazing. Maybe the best sounding delay I have heard. I tried an EQ2 because in theory it's a great pedal but for whatever reason it just didn't work for me.

But the Artifakt looks interesting. I will definitely have to try one.

I have a True Spring which I like a lot, definitely looking more in depth into this.

The year before I “joined the PPCB club” I got very heavily into SA pedals. I even got my old midi footboard out of the attic. The options and controllability were amazing to me, and I was able to fairly accurately replicate specific favorite pedal settings. I think the two bigger pedals (Nemesis and Ventris) were the first ones that I began to lose interest in; although there were wonderfully crazy options, I found I really wanted simple, but great sounding effects. I sold those, and went a different route, which while what I replaced them with was midi usable, I have never messed with it since the change. I still have a few of the series 1 pedals, in “storage,” but I should sell them. I’m just personally happier with simple, knob interfaces.

But I’m not surprised by the Artifakt. The SA design team has, to me, a fairly wide margin of interests when it comes to what they want to digitally interfere with. (Interfere might not be the best word; I don’t mean that in a negative way!)

There is something about this pedal that has me intrigued. I think you can get some of these sounds with other pedals from PedalPCB, like the low tide and hydra tape delay. However, this pedal can offer a lot of sounds not readily available to DIY. I will likely give it a go, but will wait until the used market reduces the cost!

Yup. Unless my local store gets one in and discounts it used is the way to go. Right now they have a pretty good price on a UA Orion Delay which has me sorely tempted...
