Special K D9K vs 1N34A

Any thoughts on using 1N34A instead of D9K in a Special K? I know the voltage drop is slightly different for these diodes but wondering if the outcome would be drastic enough to worry about. Any thoughts?

i wouldn't think it matters. they're just hard clipping diodes.

basically, lower Vf = more compression / more square wave distortion, higher Vf = less compression / less square wave distortion.

I got 60 D9k's a while ago and there's a decent variety of forward voltage drops. They were pretty cheap from Ukraine or Bulgaria, so they're my default Ge diode because I can usually find one in the same range as whatever a circuit calls for, so I'd say unless there's a Vf specified it probably won't make a difference.
