Spirit Box CLipping

Hello, I built a spirit box and it clips when I strum the guitar with force. Even if i completely turn the depth down it's still there.
What could be the cause? the op amp? Or is it something else that I'm overlooking. Thanks

Does the clean, verb or both sound clipped?
What's feeding it?
Beltons don't have great headroom...
Could also be a crappy 2399
Also. Not great headroom and some of them are junk. Not batch to batch but chip to chip.

Make sure you aren't feeding it too hot a signal and swap the 2399 would be my first steps.

Thanks for the response. Both the clean and verb clip. Just an electric guitar with humbuckers. Ahh okay I’ll start with changing the 2399 then?

@jwin615 maybe EQD borked this one too?

just went through all the bs associated with the eqd space spiral / dark rift. fixed now, but wtf EQD.

basically, the input resistor into the PT2399 after the input buffer was too small (clipping the PT2399).

maybe R9 on the spirit box needs to be bigger?
Ohh, then would it make more sense to change the value of R9 and compensate for it instead of changing the 2399?

well, usually it’s a lot easier to swap out the PT2399 (when most people socket these), as compared to changing a soldered in resistor.

i’m only suggesting R9 as an option to look at if trying different PT2399s doesn’t resolve the noise/clipping issue

Ahh okay. I’ll order one, try it and then get back. Thank you
