Tayda packing and shipping

My experiences mirror others here, but I’ll add that Tayda powder coated enclosures are worth the wait IMHO. Best powder coat quality and color selection bar none. The metallic candy colors are really something. I order 10 at a time, and when I get half way through the prior order, I order another 10 just to plan ahead due to the wait time. Works pretty well for me. If I get into a build frenzy as I often do, Stompbox parts coated enclosures are my second favorite (although in many cases double the cost of Tayda and limited in color selection), and I get them quickly in just a few days. I especially like their Tomic Gold, Weston Grey and Alexandrite. Aqua Vein is nice too,

I ordered today, and I checked a box acknowledging that powercoat+drilling is 16 days out, and to expect up to 4-5 weeks for UV prints. And that August is particularly busy, they anticipate September will be faster turnarounds.

I do remember the part about there being a staffing shortage and holidays, but I did not catch the "weeks" part

Good thing I separate parts orders from enclosure orders anymore.

I ordered several powder coated enclosures and some other stuff july 2nd. It shipped on the 17th. I ordered a shit ton of enclosures on like august 1st (preparing) and noticed a couple things. Some of the matte colors suggested matte sand for better turn around times and as a long term option. Also noticed a new check box as previously mentioned about wait times.

Got my parts order today having ordered the night of Aug 5.
Did you order with slow ("30 day") shipping, or faster shipping?

I'm trying to understand how tariffs will affect me as a US consumer. If I place a small order with slow shipping today, and the package isn't delivered until after Aug 29th, then should I expect to pay an $80+ fee to receive the order? Or do Tayda's listed prices already include costs associated with tariffs from the start?

I've only ever done slow shipping once, and only once, and I have no idea how the tariffs will mess with things, honestly.

You might've figured this out---and I know you said "small order"--- but the more you buy, the more the faster shipping options' prices come down; something to consider. It's not dramatic, but it does come down, and I've more often than not needed the parts more than the price offset. Maybe buy more parts so you don't have to order later? You'll have to run your numbers to see what you need to do.

I'm guessing that a package that enters the clearance process after midnight on the 29th will have tariffs assessed and the carrier will add a brokerage fee, which seems to be at least $20. Probably, hopefully, Tayda will offer a Delivered Duty Paid option, where they bundle the tariffs with shipping and avoid the carrier's brokerage fee. But they don't yet, at least for orders that are less than the de minimis $800 threshold.

Also some China-based sellers (like JLCPCB and PCBWay) offer a Global Direct Shipping option, which is slow but it somehow, usually, avoids tariffs.

FWIW I placed a ~$50 order (82 separate items, no enclosures) on the 7th and it was packed that day and arrived on the 11th.

I placed an order for one enclosure drilled and painted on July 27th, and it's still pending on the paint side. I don't think I've ever had one take so long before. If it doesn't move along shortly I'll email them

I emailed them, and it is the painting of enclosures that is causing the delays.
Tayda is clearly working very hard at addressing the situation.
I've ordered TONS of stuff from them in recent years, and every order has come through in excellent shape and without error.
So, although I wanted my order earlier, I do support good suppliers during their time of difficulty.

I just placed an order today and noticed a spike in shipping price (standard DHL option). Usually I can get it down to $3.99 with an order in the $150-200 range. This time I couldn't go under $17. Are they baking in tariffs/making America great already?
