Teddy Rupture won't work

Hello!

I have encountered an issue while building this pedal (ordered full kit from Musikding). Pedal simply won't work. I have checked everything few times, especially if components are inserted correctly. When pressing footswitch, LED turns on but there is no sound, only occasional crackles. Then after turning pedal off, LED sometimes doesn't want to turn off either which is confusing.

I will post some pictures of the build so you can check it.

Thanks!

To be blunt...your soldering is pretty bad. I see many cold joints. The GND and SW pads on your 3PDT breakout board look like they are making contact. If you have solder wick or some type of solder extractor get rid of most of that big glob and try to make the joint nice and shiny and concave. I would definitely buy some strip board and practice soldering before attempting more PCBs if I were you. What temperature have you got your soldering iron set to?

This thread is chock full of tips, give it a good read!

Ditto. I’m by far no expert yet but I can see quite a few problems with wired connections on the breakout board. The connections Nostradoomus mentioned definitely look suspect.

Thank you so much for commenting. I have figured what the issue was..LED wasn't inserted properly. But thank you anyways for the soldering tips, will get better at it!

@lmajcen - I'm in the same position right now. Was your LED just reversed? I have the positive (long) end through the square pad.

Reversing the LED wouldn't have prevented the circuit from working, the LED just wouldn't have lit up.

There must have been another issue here that was accidentally corrected in the process of turning around the LED.
