Tell me about your guitar playing or practice habits

You guys are all weird, E minor is right there and it's the right chord for every situation.

I don't play guitar much at all these days. I decided I need to get myself back into a band, as playing with other people always pushes me to be a better musician, but that always gets tricky because bands are either looking for someone that can shred (I can't) or someone that can sing (I can but my memory for lyrics is awful).

Even more common there's a full established band that's just looking for a drummer, and I'm a much better drummer than I am guitarist. I used to do drum covers on youtube as a way of encouraging myself to practice, but I haven't even done that in over a year.
Got a link?

I certainly do, I have good quality mics, a good quality interface with good quality preamps, and good quality software. When you spend years without being able to find a band, you get pretty decent at recording :p
I found that out but still haven't really nailed down the whole recording thing.
Do I read a possible collaboration in the works?
I am hoping so.

I found that out but still haven't really nailed down the whole recording thing.
Making a recording is easy enough, but getting decent recordings is an artform. I'm a lot better than I used to be, but not really professional. On guitar I tried mics in front of the cabinet and it was hard to get it to sound right, then I went full digital going direct and using plugins, and it didn't feel right. The best results I've gotten so far and thus my new go-to method is to put a reactive load on the amp's output and run it through an IR loader (I'm using a TwoNotes Torpedo until I can design my own).

Drums are tricky, I can get pretty good results with just straight mics on the drums and a bit of post-recording EQ, but I found a killer plugin for triggering and replacing the recording sounds with professionally recorded tones, so I replace all my drums now then use live overheads for cymbals (I have a matched pair of ribbon mics that make AMAZING overheads) and to blend a little of the original drum sound in with the replaced sounds. Most of the videos on my youtube are just straight from the mics with EQ, but the last 2-3 were triggered/replaced.

Oh and I would totally be down to collab on anything, shoot me a track and I'll get you a drum part.

I miss writing and recording music the most. And playing with other people
This man I used to play in bands in high school and I really miss those guys. I’ve tried with other people and the chemistry just isn’t the same. Love playing with our band and creating music on the spot. Hey check out this riff what do you think? Meanwhile the drummer is figuring out what to play to it way too loudly and the bass player is drinking a beer..

These days I tend to try and learn songs I like by ear just by playing along to it. If I want to practice my improvisation I’ll throw on something from Elevated Jam Tracks on YouTube (highly highly recommend) and play along to it.

I play with a couple of bands as well as working on my solo recording project, which I haven't been working on much for way too long. But I still work on it a bit.

One of the bands I play with, I alternate between playing bass and lap steel, or both, depending on the gig. The other band, I play bass through whatever selection of effect pedals I am currently testing/enjoying. I'm filling in with another band at the moment, also on bass. With simpler material and fewer pedals.

So my practice habit is I go over whatever material I'm going to be playing live next. And that's about it. Occasionally I get inspired to work out something that has caught my ear, and I work on my own material on various instruments when I feel like it.

I used to practice guitar for a minimum of an hour a day, but I'm older and lazier now. But I do play most days, and sometimes I play a lot.

You guys make me feel like a slug....I don't even know what the word "practice" is. I mainly just noodle....or try to cop licks from my favorite guitar players.....
