So I just built my first test box, but since I’ve been having problems with the effect that I’ve been working on, I’m not entirely sure how to gauge if 1) I’m connecting it to the effect properly and 2) if the test box I made is working.
1) I tried connecting the test box to the effect two different ways (A and B in the photos). Both ways give me a light on the test box, and clean sound only when the pedal is bi-passed. That result also matches what was happening when I had the wiring setup directly on the effect.
Is either setup connection A or B setup correct? I’m a little confused because my Abyss effect has 6 connection points (+, -, in, ground, sw, out) but my test box has 4 (in, ground, LED? and out)
2) Any thoughts on how to test if the test box is working? Someone suggested connecting the red and black gator clips together, which gives me signal in both bypass and engaged modes.
Thanks
