The Fall 2024 Hit Me mystery PIF thread - registration closed

Fuck yeah!

Rip and tear dude. RIP AND FUCKING TEAR.
I see some of your handywork here, Stickman.

This is gonna take me a bit to sort through to see what all is in here. "F _ _ k" is right. I mean Holy Shiiiiiit!

In broad strokes, there is literally a bit of everything in here... Germs and testing rig. Transistors, opamps, resistors, caps, wire, knobs. "The Chin" with his doomstick (Two Sticks of Derm) and a Gorva "defect" (apparently can't pick what color it wants to be).

I will detail it more later. Got dinners to make.

I mentioned to @jwin615 that I hadn't done my initial component buy. Too busy hoarding boards and slinging group buys. That apparently meant it was component explosion time.

Has anyone finished the puzzle? I got FARK.

Everything with a white label or a stickman drawn on it is from stickman btw. The beta tester board was courtesy of StickLabs as well. There's even some duplicate components between us. Aside from caps and jellybeans, you should have a lot of the near white whale/small bear only stuff covered.

Finer points on the germ tester:

The two test points on there are meant to be used with the green and yellow micro grabbers. I tended to clip the other end to my meter leads, cause I'm too lazy to make a banana plug adapter.

Switch to ohms with power disconnected, make sure the trimpot is set to 2.472kohms, and boomstick. Back to DCV, and you can start testing.

I tended to bend the leads to fit the CBE arrangement on the ZIF socket. It can be modded to go CBECB if one so desires.

If ya haven't done the RG keen method, here's the Link.

1) Take leakage voltage measurement. Write this down.
2) Divide voltage by 2.472 to find leakage current in mA. Easy as pie.
3) Kill the deadite that came to steal your germaniums and soul.
4) Switch to gain. Kill other deadite. Write down value.
5) Subtract step 1's value from step 4's value. Multiply by 100. This is your gain.
6) Say a prayer to our Lord and Savior, Ashley Joanna Williams, and see that it is good.

Sometimes it takes a few minutes to settle. It depends on the device you're testing. I personally trust this method a bit more than the TC-1, or the atlas meter, because reasons.
