The More Trippy, The More Far Out Man, The Better!

It’s old and long out of production, but I still like my trusty Alesis Bitrman for some versatile, concentrated weirdness.
It’s not a guitar pedal per se, but if you stick a buffer/pre-amp in front of it and a re-amp after, it works fine straight into an amp;)

Or you can Catalinbread’s “reimagining”.
Can’t vouch for this one personally (I’ve only got the original Alesis), but it looks cool.
I have wondered how many of the old weird alesis bits had fv-1 s in them. Would be cool to pull those programs for diy.
There is also the alesis ineko that had all the programs from that table top series.
Those Bitrmans have gone up in value too!

Massive fan of the Pigtronics Echolution 2 and the Mod Rex. I can absolutely 100% see people thinking the Mod Rex can be a one trick pony. The sounds these pedals create are vital though to the background rhythms I create, so they go beyond "one trick pony" for my usage. I'll post a sound clip or two when I get home from work so you can hear better what I'm referring to. My music moderately resembles a band called Sound Tribe Sector 9, so it's kind of a blend of electronic, rock, funk, and groove. I use a looper pedal and play bass, synth, effects (all using a midi pickup) and of course guitar all on the guitar.
I'd love to hear it being used in a useful weird way. Videos doing this are probably out there, but buried. I've always found it hard to translate demos from gear to my own wishes... But it seems to have gotten worse with the years. Probably doesn't help that everyone is copying everyone who is getting online traction, resulting in a field of same-y-ness. This article is focussed on one thing, but you can see it everywhere nowadays (cars, skylines, phones, ...) https://www.theguardian.com/news/20...lgorithm-why-every-coffee-shop-looks-the-same - Okay, I'm going off-track So, you use midi sync as well? That's probably the best feature; everything being clocked and doing tight rhythmic things. I do have a CV controlled tremolo (Effectrode Delta Trem), stereo Filter (OBNE Float), though that one only does EXP; then again I can hook it up to my pedal dream machine... Intellijel Cascadia (that semi-modular really opened up the use of some old mono pedals that I didn't really know what to do with. It has CV to EXP converter with mults and a send-return "module" to integrate any pedal you want into the circuit. Oh, drifting off again.... 5:30AM coffee ride, sorry. The only thing I should need a work-around for would be a synced panner (maybe through delay?) and, the mod that I would use most... Chorus (I never really liked phasing, and its bigger brother flanger, due to how they stick out as a "oh here me, I am an effect!" I prefer the subtleness of the a soft chorus or echo. Ah well, anyway, demo away!

Remember seeing the bitman on a many a desk in the early 2000s noise scene; having had to import it from the US back then would be a chore, so never went for it. Now you got me interested in the Bitters. Thanks! <3

Ugh, I've been trying to get out of the effect catalogues of all these other players like Catalinbread, Walrus, Keeley, EQD, because once I buy one, I get pressured in checking out everything they're doing, or have done. So, less of a thanks there. 🙈

They used the coolaudio V1000 and a microcontroller....and good programming :ROFLMAO:

Sick lead! Man, everything they have is awesome! Too bad their Glitch Pedal is sold out. One of the only types of those pedals that actually sounds musical in the demos. The Arpeggio Sequencer also look awesome. This is exactly the kind of stuff I'm interested in!

Yep, I was gonna say the same. I know of bananana because of the Mandala. It was sold out years ago when I heard of it.

I’ve never considered Pigtronix. I know this can’t be true for everyone because they’re kind of a big brand, but there must have been a period where they had QC issues. The bass player in my band bought multiple Pig*x pedals and ALL of them either failed electronically or physically broke. They were new pedals. None of his other gear has issues.

That blows man. I did a ton of deep diving for a heavily tweakable mod delay/filter pedal, mostly looking for one with Sweep Delay. Pigtronics Echolution 2 fit the bill on absolutely everything I was looking for. Bought it used on Reverb 2 years ago, never had any issues. Did have to dust off an old Mac laptop from 2004 to utilize the extremely outdated software editor, since it was the only computer I had old enough to run the software. If this pedal broke, 10/10 would buy another on immediately.

One of my fav experimental synth/noise boxes is the CASPER x Bastl SoftPop 2 AND with the audio input makes a great guitar synth processor/noise thing

It sounds kinda chip-tune/SID but you can get weird quickly with all of the built in feedback paths. Finally it also has an audio input for external signal processing AND all of the parameters plus additional features are unlocked through its patch bay. This makes the device semi-modular and plays really with with anything CV (Eurorack etc.). Even if you don't external patch to other things, internal patching makes the possibilities endless. Its really really fun to mess with.

On the surface its a single oscillator synth with a multimode filter and wonky envelope powered by a sequencer, but its so much more than that. Always yields unexpected results. IMG_3278.jpg

ManecoLabs Grone Synth. Pretty wild pedals offered by these guys. This one is definitely down the road for me.
This pedal is so good. Its very playable and the results are really cool

If I'm not mistaken, the original Grone pedal is more or less a modified version of the Mutable Instruments Clouds module firmware (its called parasites I think) with an added filter from the Korg MS-20. I think the Grone II builds off of that design but kinda takes it their own direction. Either way the DSP algorhythms that the pedal uses are pretty nutty and fun. Super cool company too, very odd and innovative.

*edit* they also make a stereo fuzz that looks interesting that I want to try at some point
