I had a bit of an "oh no!" moment when I plugged it in the first time (before I boxed it) and got silence when the pedal was on. Then I realised that I hadn't put the transistors in yet. Did so, worked perfectly.
Sounds great, I see why the original is so popular. There's a huge variety of sounds in this design. The controls are very interactive and you can get some cool "broken" sounds as well as the more normal fuzz/distortion stuff. If you're thinking of making one: do it.
Pretty straightforward build. I did have to put two resistors in series (first time I've done that) because I failed to get any 510K resistors. I used a 422K and a 91K, nominally 513K and tested as 514K. That's close enough for me. You can see it in the innard shots. Also my footswitch because I find that I prefer to just wire it up than use a breakout board, and finally a special close up of the power connector thingy so as to trigger the haters.
