This makes me feel better about dropping my Crate the other day

I dropped my Crate Vintage Club 50 head the other day right after getting it fixed. Luckily I didn't have the tubes in but this video sure makes me feel better about it.

Crate V50 Tube Amp Being Thrown. DURABLE!!

I'm not sure why it's not being able to link to the tubes.....boooo!

They flew under the radar till I worked on a couple of them and was knocked out at how good they sound. Sort of killed any pre-conceived attitude about Crates.

Same. I was given this vc50 that just needed an output transformer. I thought I was going to give it away after I fixed it, but once I heard it I realized it was quite a thoughtful gift.
I'm trying my hand at CAD and I've designed a box for it in the style of the vc50 head and a single 15 inch in a separate cab. I'll find out soon but the amp sounds soooooo gud

I had a vc50 for a while it sounded good but, they are notorious for the boards warping once’s that happens and they are pretty much done.
Thanks for the heads up!
I guess the board was only like 6 months old when the old OT died. It's in like new condition once I did a deep clean on all the dust and reflowed the sockets. I plan on an installing a small fan in the head with lots of ventilation to help keep that heat away.

My vintage 68 SFDR took a tumble off the truck when the driver moved it, by request of the management, while loading. Said he "forgot". There was literally no damage except a slightly bent faceplate, easily straightened....

TRAYNOR! Pete throwing amps off roofs, legit.

Years later these guys started UPS.

My first tube amp was a VC50. I knew nothing about electronics or tube amps, it was just the loudest thing the pawn shop had at the time (aside from a 5150 that was out of my price range).

I had a 1/4" > 1/8" patch cable and used it as my computer speaker, I remember leaving it powered up for weeks at the time. Why not? I mean did it with my old Sound Blaster speakers... what's the difference? After a week of constant idle power those metal vents get hot. :ROFLMAO:🤦‍♂️

It eventually got a loose solder connection around the input jack. At first a wiggle would do, then I had to wrap the cord around the handle to keep tension on it, when that stopped working I would leave a pedal dangling off the side by a patch cable to keep it working. I opened it up thinking it'd be a simple fix, saw a PCB and thought "Nope, unrepairable." and ended up trading it to someone for something.

That's been almost 30 years ago but I do remember it being a pretty dang good amp and it survived my foolish abuse without issue.

Pete was kinda famous for throwing stuff of roofs. He did some road stuff for Steve Miller back in the day. Luckily it wasn't tubes.
