I was so stoked with my first two tube builds that I decided to experiment a little. I took a PedalPcb ARCHE as the first stage and used the Blackvibe preamp as the second stage. Both are true bypass and can be used independently or together.
I was out of 12ax7 tubes so I tried an extra Mullard 12At7 and I f’in love it. It’s round glassy bottom and crystal clear top end just does it for me on so many levels…
I ended up with a short trouble shooting session as I accidentally wired one of the plates to the wrong turret. But once it was found and fixed everything was heavenly.
I think I want to try my hand at pcb layout so I can get rid of the eagles nest of wires. But that’s for another day.
In the Audio Sample the tube section is on until about 1:00 where I click it off for a few licks and then click back on the tube. At about 1:15 I engage the boost into the tube. All the controls are very sensitive so I know I will be able to dial this in even better than this first noodle.
