Many of us build pedals mostly as a hobby and some as professionals. As a pro-hobbyist, I bring some of my builds to the local music store and the owner is gracious enough to provide some display case space them. A couple weeks ago, a fellow from a local fab shop (Superior Fab Lab) saw them and contacted me out of the blue to invite me to the local annual MakerFest where several local fabricators come and show their stuff. There will be chemists, engineers, robotics, specialized drone makers and other makers displaying what they do.

Being retired with more time on my hands than I ever used to have, I thought to give it a go and get involved. I'll be showing several of my builds, have my axe & amp to demonstrate some and bring my laptop to show off Digital Larry's "SpinCAD Designer" app wherein I create my own patches for the FV-1 DSP chip. PedalPCB will be getting a major plug there as many of my builders are of Robert's making.

I'm pretty much a lone wolf up here and don't know of any other pedal builders in the area. It'll be interesting to see how much attention is garnered. My hopes are that some younger folk might show an interest in pedal building.

Well deserved, Mark!!

I've always wondered why that upper peninsula wasn't part of Wisconsin.
A dispute arose over the border between Michigan and Wisconsin, and it was resolved through the Toledo War (1833). No shots were fired, but there was a heated argument over a strip of land that included the city of Toledo. Michigan eventually gave up its claim to Toledo in exchange for the western part of the UP.

Seriously though that’s super cool!

Keweenaw! I worked at the hospital there, installing Lab software. I got to be there in winter and spring. The thaw was so cool. Been several areas up there working, but liked Keweenaw the best.

That Makerfest sounds really interesting! I'd be more inclined to be social if I could nerd-out and not feel like I'm making the other people gloss over with too much info. 🤣 Or maybe it would help if I didn't blurt everything out in one massive, manic sentence. 🤪

The change of seasons up here are dramatically beautiful. The winters are a bit uncommonly long.

The show went far better than I anticipated. Last year, (the first such MakerFest expo in the area), about 250 people attended. This year, there were over 250 people visiting in just the first hour. Several people, including kids, stopped to ask about the pedals and the process of building. Folks actually listened to the answers with apparent interest. I was even asked to answer interview questions from two different local news sources. The enthusiasm is real.
