Valve Stem (MI Tube Zone) tone control issue

I built up Valve Stem a few days ago, and sounds pretty good. I have noticed that my Tone control has a very small "sweet spot". I used the correct pot value and taper, but it seems that unless I am in the top 25% of the pot turn clockwise, it cuts way too much treble and gets pretty muddy. When in the top 25% turn of the pot, it goes from sounding very usable to shrill. I didn't know if this was normal function, someone else had experienced this with their build, or if there are any modification recommendations. The tone stack looks like it interacts between 4.7nf and 22nf capacitors. I will need to confirm that I didn't populate the 22nf with a 220nf by mistake.

I also get a little oscillation/squeal if I dime all the settings, but that's nothing a buffer in front doesn't fix.
