i had this one on my list for so long, but it just kept getting bumped for other things i wanted to do more..
but a few weeks ago the other guitarist of a band im in asked about me building a rat for him.
so i finally got it done.
here it is
i want to like it.
but it’s not for me.
tried it in front of a clean channel.
it certainly does the doom thing.
i think it’s cool how it can be both fuzz and distortion depending on how you set it.
the filter control is pretty nifty. i can see the potential and versatility it offers.
tried it as a boost/drive in front of high gain channel. pretty fat and aggressive. but it’s a bit loose.. perhaps a bit mid scoopy.
the fuzz-like gated-ness when turning up the distortion, idk, it’s hard for me to enjoy.
maybe it’s because i’m not really a fuzz person. it’s a whole world i haven’t yet really understood.
i’ll try again when i eventually do a life pedal build.
but to end on a positive note; holy crap, how good is that matte sand texture finish in black! the orange was ok, but black is just excellent.
