The last era of electronics that was meant to be repaired and worked onChecking in on the Rev 5 I got yesterday. The battery is at 3.2v and the electros in on the power supply board are all Nichicons. They don't show any signs of unhappiness so I'm inclined to let it be for the time being

Turns out I'm not the only crazy lunatic who tries to fill up every little space on a PCB. This is a section from an old RME Fireface 800 main board that I'm using as an organ donor. To fix a Behringer device, of all things!
This is what's on the bench. Took the opportunity to make little a video of my old analog SMD pick-and-place machine:
I got magnifying goggles for that which help a lot!I want to dip into the SMD pond but my 50 year old eyes are soooo terribad.
Your analog pick and place machine seems to work great still![]()
JTEX has a camera there. Note the light source. That would helpI want to dip into the SMD pond but my 50 year old eyes are soooo terribad.

I’m dabbling in it myself (51, and constantly flipping my glasses up vs admitting I need bifocals). First attempt were the voltage regulators on the Proto board. Next will be some FETs and eventually a few FV1 projects.I want to dip into the SMD pond but my 50 year old eyes are soooo terribad.

I’m 42 and already using progressive lenses…I’m dabbling in it myself (51, and constantly flipping my glasses up vs admitting I need bifocals). First attempt were the voltage regulators on the Proto board. Next will be some FETs and eventually a few FV1 projects.
Would love to see some simple all SMT projects like silicon fuzzes, Dist+/oD250 or even something more utilitarian like the Clapton mid boost or a JFET buffer/booster (ie Stratoblaster etc - SMT for onboard electronics makes so much sense)
I'm 52 and cranky, I can't see through progressives unless I'm looking straight ahead only.I’m 42 and already using progressive lenses…
Nice!A busted-ass Deucetone. At least two pots, and the footswitches need to be replaced

Rat variants are my Achilles heel. Other than my very first standard Rat, I’ve messed up every other variant I’ve ever built… I swear it’s a mental block for meA busted-ass Deucetone. At least two pots, and the footswitches need to be replaced

Does JHS VCR count?Hey @Robert did you ever work on any VCRs in that repair shop?
NopeDoes JHS VCR count?
I mean that’s understandable. It’s hard work. This one only powers on after it's been plugged in for a while. And it gets tired and shuts off after loading a tape
