The old one is definitely a hardwood, sort of smells like oak. It came out of my house And these are 2x3sThe old one looks more like mahogany than pine.
My understanding is that 2x4's did in fact used to be 2x4, they we started planing them to make them flatter/cleaner (I assume because we needed to use boards from nearer the outside of the tree). So a board that "started as 2x4, before it was planed" is still referred to as a 2x4.
Or that's a rural legend I happily accommodated into my personal confirmation bias.... (maybe I've been watching too much philosophy vids on YouTube)
Is it for a tattoo machine?
FYP!Certainly
My buddy would call them "Party Dots!". As in...Surprise! Ya got a party dot!Seems like it's time for TIY (tattoo it yourself)
Of course, it's not my work! That looks GREAT, Charlie.
This is great!I made a little video to try out a video making software my teenage son recommended. It's about my current approach to pedal wiring: avoid at all costs!
I'll leave it here before my blonde GF makes me take it down
Wow, hard-core workNow that the tracing on the Rockman Acoustic Pedal (blue button, Dunlop version) is near completion, I can put the original back together . . . .
Gotta lift legs to measure the parts with any accuracy.Wow, hard-core work
But... You don't trust the markings?Gotta lift legs to measure the parts with any accuracy.![]()
Finally back home, and able to get to wiring this time and relative dimension in space box up

I really want one of these and you'd think I'd just go buy one because I seem to recall they're still pretty reasonable. How does it sound as a pedal?
I don't always trust the markings. I also don't don't always trust my eyes. We've found in studying Rockman gear that some parts were intentionally marked wrong or the color bands were "iffy". Especially the caps - I've seen a number of clearly marked 104 (100nF) but when measured they read ~82nF. In Rockman gear filters, those caps values can be critical. (IMO)But... You don't trust the markings?
