What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

Maybe you should have considered LEDs made by a well-known manufacturer, with a fully defined datasheet that can be trusted with regards to brightness, viewing angle and so on... I can assure you that there exist blindingly bright diffuse green LEDs. They might cost $0.30 instead of $0.03 though... I've had LEDs so bright that I had to use an 15k resistor off 5V to bring them down to reason.
Would you care to link me to someone more reputable?

I just do a parametric search at either Digikey or Mouser, sometimes Newark.

For the search below, I chose 3mm green diffuse LEDs in stock at Digikey. Check the mcd rating. Single digit mcd is dim. Two digits is bright. 3 digits is fecking blinding. At least one on this list has a 120mcd rating (haven't looked at all of them). Best to buy bright ones and tone them down with a larger resistor, all else being equal.

So I did some experimenting today. I decided to mix 2 different top coats together.

Here are the results:
It’s a purple that color shifts to gold with the rainbow effect added lightly to not disturb the true color. I think it came out fantastic!

The colors much much more intense in the light. It was hard to capture shots of everything going on at once.

*GASP*

... I literally hard-sucked in a breath when I scrolled down the thread to that first photo.
Can't wait to get my 3 enclosures. Really, I've got your PayPal and I want to put some kind of down payment on them — just let me know in our PM what's appropriate.

If you've already done my purple enclosure, I'll take one more from you in this colour.

Sure! You got it!

I dig these plastic fresnel lenses too
I tried one of these plastic fresnel lenses with a 3mm LED on my Angry Frog build because it's what I had on hand that fit my pre-drilled enclosure. I just didn't feel like drilling the hole out to fit a bezel. And I gotta say, I was very pleased with the result. (In the build report it looks like a metal bezel because of the lighting, but it's not. It actually looks pretty awesome when the LED is lit.)

I agree. They’re kinda stealthy opposed to the metal ones. I did one last week with a red lens and red led. It looked really sharp. Also if you used a clear one and back the led up a bit so you can’t see it until it’s on, that’s the ticket.

Yeah, I didn't think I would like theses, but they are definitely in the arsenal from now on -- not saying I'm giving up on the chrome bezels that I love. And of course, I'm still trying to find the right build for a jewel, but I'm definitely not ruling these out anymore.

I haven't been working on music related projects much. Just been messing with my cub cadet 122. Last week, I put a new mule drive and mower deck on, dipped and scrubbed the carb, and today I pulled the spark plug and cleaned it up. I've got a new plug and wire on the way

OMG, sorry for chiming in late here (just saw this post), but the Cub Cadet 122 was the first vehicle I ever crashed. LOL It was a neighbor's, and I overestimated the turning radius and crashed it into their house -- oops.

EDIT: I guess I should add that I was like 10 years old at the time and should have never been operating motorized lawn equipment.

Oh, and the boards actually work this time :P

Verification build parts quality. tried it with, then jumpered those last two components. I like the extra edge without them, but friend wants his original.

I probably need to eventually get some (much) shorter DuPont wire connectors.
