Where and why do people buy Chibsons?

I've played a few chibsons that friends have bought via aliexpress and reverb, they've all been pretty terrible. They'd all have required a lot of work to make them properly usable. Id rather have a decent guitar with the wrong name than a sub par guitar that had a brand name on it I liked.

Got a source on that, my dude? I know Gibson bought a Chinese piano factory in like 2006 and all the forums buzzed about Gibson moving guitar manufacturing there, but I never saw anything official come out of it.

Like I said, it was just a friend of a friend. I take people at their word and try not to be a doubting Thomas.

I lived in Asia for a while so I saw some weird guitars at the local shop, and my favorite was a triple humbucker SG with a Fender logo on the headstock. I'll have to see if I can dig up the pictures, it was like 12 years ago.
