Woodpecker fizz? Distortion? Input problem.

Hey guys!!. Back with another problem here and hoping I could get some guidance. A few days ago I built the woodpecker. Everything works good enough except I have an input problem it seems. It has a lot of fizz or distortion and note decay( especially noticeable on the lower strings like during power chords.) It happens less as level is maxed but that’s way above where I need it. I have tried different guitars and amps cords etc. Swapped all the transistors as they were socketed. No change. Even tried 2n5457. I admittedly been on a good streak and boxed it up before testing it. Eating humble pie now!! If anyone has ran into this problem I’d love to know what caused it. If I need to unbox it and take pics I will but first I thought I’d ask if anyone has ran into this before. Thanks for looking and I gotta say I appreciate this community, I lurk around often.

Yes. It seems worse as the level is lowered to minimum. At barely audible the note just a fizz that dies off. At around noon where I’d like it keep it, it has like a distorted fizzy undertone. It happens pre and post a buffer as well as just by itself. I didn’t notice it for a couple days as I built another fuzz and I just was playing them together. I agree The pf5102 is from stompboxparts. It shows as a JFET and I’ve tried six different ones no change.
