I just had the opposite of a shipping delay nightmare. A few days after I ordered it (cough cough I mean when my wife ordered it for my bday this coming June) I received notice that it was coming late this Saturday. Shipping disappointment suddenly turned into new guitar day today!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've wanted one of these to tinker with and mod for so long. I can't wait to put flats on. Pickups sound pretty good though we all know those are gonna get swapped out sooner than later. Tuners are just good enough to not replace them tomorrow. Only just though, it'll happen. Overall the quality for the price point is stellar though. Neck is comfy, setup decent. Nut and frets will get some work but it isn't the buzzy floppy mess that some people say these can be. I may have just been lucky and received a butter squier. Between this and the quesabirria tacos I bought from an El Salvadoran food cart, this is the best day I've had in ages.

Now excuse me while I go get this thing all covered in greasy fingerprints.

That is correct and I highly recommend it. Everyone needs a bass vi. Mannnnn, picking off the protective plastic from the tailpiece, guard, and neck plate was satisfying.

If anyone is considering it, for an extra 70 bucks and a long wait there's a shell pink version with white guard and painted headstock. Pretty slick but I just couldn't wait until fall.

I totally agree, but you still will..

A fret dressing plus replacement pickups, and you have an amazing instrument.

I got a CV 50s Tele to dip my toes into the Tele water, swapped the pups for some Pribora Cream Teles, and I can't justify getting a higher end model.

I have a Jazzmaster (a real one, not the Mascis one). Great guitar. Pickups are the weak point, but they are perfectly usable. I don’t feel rushed to swap them out, let’s put it that way…

I gifted mine to myself to celebrate (cough cough) my first year free of a decade-long nicotine addiction!

If at all possible, I'd try to get ahold of a Staytrem bridge for it. They're not easy to get and they're not cheap, but as soon as I installed mine (after being on the wait-list for a year or so,) all of my intonation and slippery saddle issues disappeared through the magic of engineering.

I also spent more than I should on a piece of metal that replaces the tremolo with a fixed mount, but that's more of a personal preference thing. I chose to sacrifice the tremolo option to stay in tune more reliably.

I really like the stock pickups, myself, so I'm interested in what you choose to replace them with, but as you said, "It's nice enough to keep as it is" ..for awhile. Congratulations!
 
So far I'm actually liking the pickups quite a bit. A nice range of sounds. I saw someone with lipsticks in one and it has me curious. Since low output is considered the way, I was thinking about some gfs strat size goldfoils too.

I'm liking the bass cut more than I thought I would though I wish there wasn't such a volume drop with the tone knob rolled down. The tremolo was a big selling point for me so I won't be doing the staytrem unless intonation problems arise. Thankfully mine has been fine so far staying true. I don't reef on the whammy too hard. My 3 year old on the other hand.....

I can't stop playing the ventures - walk don't run an octave down. Sounds like shit but it's fun. More like "stagger don't run."

Noice!

Got a new Fender myself except mine is the Paranormal Cyclone, which is very similar to yours. Went with it instead of the more traditional Strat. Definitely love the pickup selection switches. Only thing I didn't like was the bridge so that's the first upgrade I'm making to it. Already have one on order. The other thing I might do is find a way to add some switches for phase switching on the pickups. Looking at the electronics, looks like it's a pretty easy thing to do. :D

They should have called it the tangcaster. Looks pretty sweet. I've always liked the mustang body.
 
Little update. The more I play, the less I want to swap out the pickups. Labella flats are en route and I think a mastery bridge is the next priority. Then probably a bone nut. The knobs weren't round enough for me to mindlessly tweak with my pinky so I threw these oddities on there. Gotta mod it somehow, right?
