Back on topic.

I don't have a brake, but my friend has one (same friend I got to try his welder the other day), so I'm thinking I might try an old-school Muff-like enclosure;
I like the enclosures that the front, face, and back where the jacks are all one piece, and the sides and bottom the second piece. I don't think my welding is good enough yet to attempt that style of enclosure. Maybe in time...

That's my buddy in the vid, he's a fabricator / welder / car guy by trade. In our joint ventures, he generally handles the metal and finish work, and I'm the wood and electronics guy.
I believe that one's a Model A pickup that's been kind of a slow burn project for him. Not sure where he's at progress wise. Last time I'd visited, he was knee deep in a pair of Ford Galaxies
The dog's name is Monty, he's a huge slobbering sweetheart. Mastiff/ rottweiler if I recall.

A Big Muff style would be fairly simple, that's what we initially started with, but figured if we're doing the work, I may as well design something a lil more unique. I'd recommend going with something a bit thicker than EHX uses, though.

What a great cross-up for Monty. Always liked Mastiff's, friends had a really nice Rottweiler (hmm forgot the dog's name, it was music-related...sucks to get old)

I'll heed your advice and try heavier stock than EHX; I often go with aforementioned friend to a metal supply place that has a good scrap bin.

Before I was born, my dad's daily was a '29 Tudor. My grandfather had a '32 rumble seat coupe too. Sadly I'll probably never own one though

Although I keep almost getting sucked into that world… this is for the tube delay I’ve been tinkering with. Can’t fit it in a normal 1590bb so thought this would do the trick. And gives me the opportunity to mix woodworking with pedal building.

Which tone wood are you using for the sides?

A few days ago I saw a demo of the Module4 compressor from DryBell. The enclosure caught my eye immediately. A bit of planning, cutting, and here's a prototype. Not identical, but at least some variation from the flat faceplates I usually make.

Speaking of old cars - my dad's first car was a '28 Erskine. That car would be almost 100 years old now! They were made by Studebaker and had a crash gearbox.

Just saw an Erskine today!

It's at a friend's friend's place, which I've visited before. Fought my instinct and didn't take a pic of it today, as I thought I had a few pics of it already from the last time I visited the collection.

Guess the pics are on my old phone/computer/whatever — will be sure to take pics next time I'm out there and post 'm here.

Wow - there can't be many around these days. Back then here in Australia it was rare to get the entire car imported from the US. They would import the chassis, engine and running gear, then a local coachbuilder would add the bodywork. So there would have been a number of cars here that an American wouldn't have recognised even though they were all US underneath. That's how our recently defunct GM branch Holden started here. They were a coach builder adding bodies to chassis, then were bought by GM to be the front for them here.

You folks Down Under sure have a lot of cool car history, that's for sure.

VWs were sent to your shores initially as KDK (knock-down-kits), too. which begat the gorgeous coachbuilt Ascort and others.

Lots of stuff sent to you from Canada, as Ford and other manufacturers could get past Australian duties imposed on US's exports by having the Canadian products slip in under the umbrella of the Commonwealth.

And then the Falcon lived on there long after it was defunct in N.America, and the continued development of the straight-six for it to cross-flow.

Then there's the Chry-Co Hemi-I6, and ...



... and I'll eventually try and clone the Small Stone enclosure I've got or the Electric Mistress on my friend's brake.
