PCB design challenge #1

I tried laying it out a couple ways but keep coming up with something that is on one side of the chip but needs to be on the other.

So then I started trying to swap* the op-amps...

Pin 7➡️ Pin 1
Pin 6➡️ Pin 2
Pin 5➡️ Pin 3

Pin 3➡️ Pin 5
Pin 2➡️ Pin 6
Pin 1➡️ Pin 7

... to try and get a better flow — and I'm still getting stuck with one thing or another that doesn't belong, the Trimmer for example.

*NOTA BENE! If you swap pins, make sure they're the right ones, as the schematic is drawn such that the neg-input is on the bottom for the first op-amp, but on the 2nd op-amp the neg-input is on top. Luckily I noticed this right away, so my painting myself into a corner isn't because of that.


The next thing I did was try to group components by nets, assemble little clusters of components and then route from cluster to cluster but that just turned into one big clusterfu...




Now I gotta go shop for groceries, Saturday, Christmas Eve, in freezing weather with last-minute-shopper-morons running red lights on roads that are slicker than hot whale-shit on an iceberg. I guess that makes me a last-minute-moron, too, shopping today, BUT ... I couldn't go for groceries prior due to work and ...
I won't be running any reds.

Aye, rarely more than around 2-3mm in my world except in some very specific cases where I'm also decoupling some other node than just the opamp power supply. Many schematics I've worked off exclude bypass caps, I tend to just add them as a matter of course. I buy X7R caps in both through-hole and 0805 format by the hundreds, smoke 'em if you got 'em.

I've never had occasion to want or need an auto wah, so I like this project even more since pretty much everything about it is out of my wheelhouse!
 
Finished mine yesterday with no jumpers!!! Got it first time, although if it were double sided I could get some of the power traces way shorter. Not trying to brag just sayin' its possible. ;)
Now to just pretty it up.... I'm going to deck this one out..... you've been warned. :p
 
I couldve sworn someone mentioned how far traces should be from each other along with some other valuable info i cant seem to find it!
 
Okay - being without most of the basic software out there, I'm sort of doing this old school. One quick question - I'm used to 1, 2, and 3 being marked on the pots - on these "2" is fairly straightforward, but is CW 1 or 3?
 
I actually got it laid out with grounds and everything without any jumpers, BUT it’s all spread out on the screen. Now I need to organize everything somehow. It was pretty fun moving footprints around to get all the runs to not cross.

Is the LED in the upper left? Maybe. Is the board 6” X 6”? Maybe. Lol. Are the off board connection points in a logical, well laid out position? Lol no. 😂

It’s definitely a learning experience, and I have no idea if it’ll work.
 
This one was a lot more trouble than I had antecipated... 125b sized, with mounted pots, 2 jumpers and some looooong traces :LOL:
 
I did have one layout early on without jumpers, but ... I've abandoned about 8 layouts and then had to abandon working on it altogether due to other time-management commitments. I may have some additional time to work on it in the coming month though.
