Good thing you know how to replace emYeah my worry is they aren't as robust but I'm not exactly a touring musician so it may not matter for my needs
The regular alpha 16mm pots as well as the Tayda branded ones are just a bit less robust, and they also tend to be less smooth to turn in my experience, having areas of higher friction, and areas of mid-to-lower friction along its rotation. 24mm alpha pots and alpha push-pull pots tend to be more consistent throughout the travel, so I have no problem using them, though I’ve largely switched to (unfortunately a fair bit more expensive) CTS push-pulls in anything where I have enough space to fit it, since the switching mechanism in the CTS pots is much smoother and much less prone to failure. If alpha pots work in pedals why wouldn't they work in guitars?
Just measure the value if it's important to you.
Do you guys only use expensive pots? Do you measure them?
Jangle box?I wired this last night. I'll post a build report once I get a chance to play it a bit. Really excited about this one

I was thinking byrdhouse... then realised it's the same thingJangle box?
Let me know how you dig it! I’ve been trying to find the perfect compressor for that brickwall 12 string tone
Just tried it out right now and I really love it. Exactly what I was looking for!Jangle box?

I need to rehouse and retry it... my byrdhouse has been out of the box for clear coating for months... I had trouble with ink transfering in the clear and winter came too early.Just tried it out right now and I really love it. Exactly what I was looking for!
I will absolutely make a clip, but not for a few days because I have 2 more pedals I want to finish before the end of the week/month/year. They're already popped and tested, just need stuffedJangle box?

That is an enviable amount of work space you've got thereWhat’s on my workbench? A whole lot of mess, since I took down the crappy old angle-iron shelf next to the workbench, and built an L-shaped addition so there’s room for the 3D printer where the component drawers currently are. Excuse the gap near the back— the cut edge of the plywood mounted to the wall is just a bit wonky, and it’ll be getting a quick molding job to hide the gap since I can’t afford more plywood
Gonna be moving everything around tomorrow so I can finish up a pedal build before people come over in the evening, since it’s already stamped to say 2022 and I’d hate to be a liar.

Definitely feel lucky to have access to such a space. It’s a bit difficult to access because it’s the back room of the basement, behind the laundry, and it’s the room where all of the seasonal decorations are kept boxed up (it’s also between the oil tank and the water heater, so I get to hear a duo of odd whale noises whenever hot water is running or the heat is on lol), but once you get to it, it’s a pretty cosy space. That is an enviable amount of work space you've got there
Buying kits now feels like you're paying a king's ransom too![]()

This is a compact synth that I plan to use for CV sequenced basslines.
Doing these "kit" builds with all the components pre-picked makes me feel like a king- a spoiled damn king!
