CHALLENGE April 2nd Challenge…. A call to this community and beyond for Autism Awareness.

Last year I posted a build in April for autism awarenes, (April 2nd being the official internationally recognized day) I’m reminded there are a number of us here with kids and family on the spectrum, ( and I suspect a few of us might be on the spectrum as well. ) I will be doing it again, posting a build report here, also on other platforms, forums and social media, I encourage anyone willing, to participate. the challenge? You got 6 weeks to do something a little different and creative, push yourself outside of your comfort zone and approach it from an angle you have never even considered, from my experience this is were people on the spectrum live. If you want share an experience but this part is not required as not everyone has one, or sometimes it’s just too personal.. I would love to see this spread beyond this forum as this community is wide spread across many platforms. I hope to see some cool builds in April.

I am in. I have wanted to try some custom paint jobs! Agree with need for Autism awareness!
My hope for awareness is not just for acknowledgment sake but the more the general population knows the more likely in the future there will be more funding for research, resources, and services, as it is it’s such an underserved cross section of the population and it can be very difficult to find and get help. But I have a feeling you get it.

No problem, brother. You going to be able to build something? If not maybe a demo of something you already built? Just an idea

Definitely building something dude. I've been talking to MrsOctpuss tonight trying to come up with ideas to "take me out of my comfort zone".

I'm thinking a wah or a multi pedal of some sort. I've been planning on building a multi boost pedal with a rotary knob to select which boost is active since I bought the Marshall a few weeks ago.

I had been thinking about a DIY Loadbox but I can buy the basic two notes captor second hand for around the same price as building one and there's a much smaller chance of me blowing my amp with a non diy solution. 🤣

Whichever one I go for I'm going to see if Thomas can help me paint it to get him involved.

Alright, I have a semi-plan for my effort. We are going to take the UV print leap, but also try some more flavorful paint jobs on some bare enclosures that I already have. I have liked @MichaelW custom paint jobs and want to give it a go. The weather is getting warmer, so I think I can do the painting without too many issues.

I need to figure out an epic circuit to design my UV print around. The Chop Shop may be in the list. Suggestions are appreciated, but only “epic” suggestions!

WIP

Working on a reverb and trying some interesting mods some of which didn’t work like I was hoping, I trying my hand at stripboad/vero (can’t say I care for it much). Designed some Jfet buffer s I felt they were too noisy so I went to simple opamp buffers that work quite well but not so much when introduced “to deep” into the signal chain, the idea was a buffered fx loop in a reverb that can change a typical type reverb in to what ever you can imagine using pedals you have on hand. And after some experiments the buffers just weren’t necessary for my purposes here a little sneak peek 9BDA619E-17C0-471A-B6C9-A7F2E0A4AFB3.jpeg 39E18513-2797-46B7-A358-5153E2D55393.jpeg

Looking good @Paradox916.

@Guardians of the analog kindly sent me a link to his no film tutorial over on Madbean and I instantly hit a snag in that you must use a laser printer which I don't have anymore.

I know what I'm going to build I'm just trying to find an interesting way of finishing it.
The laser printer is the exact reason Went from water slide. Skipped over no film and learned how to do UV prints, the number of pedals I build didn’t justify the cost of the printer to me, when UV prints only add a few dollars per enclosure.

That's a good call. The finish you guys are getting from the UV prints is pretty fantastic. Not sure I'd have time to learn how to do it and get one back here in time though.

You could probably pull it off by the end of April but you would have to hit it pretty hard… if you were in the US I know of some options for printing services that things a bit easier, maybe there is something like that in your neck of the woods

Yeah I've got a backup plan I'm working on and ordered some stuff this evening for an experimental run. Nothing groundbreaking but still different from the process I usually go for. The circuit itself is something I have hardly any experience with though will be very basic stuff to most people. I've built one of these effects before but wasn't happy with it and didn't box it up in the end.
