Knob quest: a smaller mini-chickenhead

Got a build I’m working on that would really benefit from some chickenhead knobs, but the pots are spaced 21mm apart, and the typical mini chickenhead knobs are 23mm from the pointer to the back, meaning there are a multitude of positions where adjacent knobs can’t be set. Anyone know of a good knob that encapsulates the essence of the mighty chickenhead while preferably being around 18-20mm across (10mm radius from axis to furthest point)? Not specifically chickenhead, but anything with a similar vibe.

I know what the OP means.
The Ibanez FL99 Classic Flange has smaller chicken-head knobs; like, smaller the ones that Smallbear or anyplace else sells.
Wish you could get those aftermarket.

+1 on the Davies 1400s, or similar, it’s the pointiest I’ve found in the sub-20mm diameter range.

Outside of actual Davies ones, I like the ones from @StompBoxParts. I have to be extra careful with the Tayda 1400s, if you overtighten the screw the knob starts to deform but the SBP ones seem like better plastic:

Just go with a Davies 1510-style knob:

Diameter (bottom): 19.20mm
Diameter (top): 18.5mm
Height: 14.5mm

☝️Davies SSSSO MUCH BETTER LOOKING THAN👎

Pardon the necropost, but I thrifted a Fender MD-20 mini amp the other day--it's got four 18mm chickenhead knobs (push-on 18-tooth, short shafts). I was reminded of this thread.
It sounds like a carton of lousy and is barely worth the $7.95 I paid for it, if the case can potentially fit a submini tube amp. Also I suspect the 2.5" speaker could be holding it back a little. Anyway, if you can use the knobs I can mail them.

cool knobs indeed!

also, don't write these minis off until you've plugged one into a 4x12  it's definitely the speaker that sucks, not the amp

Gonna try it! The onboard speaker is 8 ohms so it will be an easy thing to test. I took a look inside but haven't done the cutting of plastic needed to fully liberate the internals yet.

Vox Flat 4 uses 18mm Chicken head knobs but it's a push on D shaft!

hell yeah man!
i did it with an MS-2. found a schematic so i could understand/confirm where to jumper from. the stock layout had a 510R limiting resistor for the headphone out.
i jumpered this to a switch to allow x2 options, fully bypassed (max volume) or 100R (less volume) - only because it sounded best to me with volume cranked and that became uncomfortably loud with the output ‘limiting resistor’ fully bypassed.

I’d love to find an online vendor that has a ton of knobs to choose from. While there are quite a bit to choose from at our typical vendors (SB, LMS, SBP), I’m getting a little burned out on those. There’s got to be a couple wholesalers out there with a plethora of knobs that would fit our needs. Just haven’t found them as of yet. Perhaps I should use the many hundreds I’ve stocked up from the aforementioned suppliers before looking for more. I can’t help it though, I’m a sucker for a solid knob. Wait.. nevermind.

Tubesandmore.com has a bunch of interesting ones, including the original Zonk chicken heads.

I was dumb and missed the 20% sale on knobs they had. Expired on may 9th....

Speaking of missing the sale and despite my better judgment, I made an order with PCBMania for a few items yesterday (seeing they had a 20% labor day sale), got to the checkout and completely forgot to enter in the code! Talk about a bone headed move….. ah well. It’s worth while to note that they don’t have the best record of quality or even working pcb designs; but I wanted a couple more of their Acapulco Tones (4 knob with clean blend Acapulco Gold) that I had built previously. Those are actually pretty cool. It’d be even cooler if our favorite pcb supplier offered one of those. Although, with Robert’s personal touch :)

@Kroars, message Gonzalo and see if he can still give you the discount.

I've missed the discount code *cough* a few times here with PedalPCB and Robert has been most gracious and applied the code after the fact.

I, too, like the Glass Jaw (what the PCBGM "Acapulco Tone" is derived from) and it'd be a great addition here — somebody should put it in the WISH LIST... ;)

interesting. I’ve never heard of the Glass Jaw, I’m gonna check it out, thanks! Happy Friday :)

Those knobs are definitely cool and look like exactly what I'm looking for. I somehow missed literally all of the replies to this thread, so I'm glad I just happened to come back to it to bump it.
If you still have the knobs and the offer still stands, I'd love to get my hands on them. I'm thinking I could probably even make molds off of them very easily and cast extras.
These are cool.
that's definitely a really interesting one. I wish they provided more info on the shaft type and all that, but I guess to be fair they probably only mean it to be a replacement for missing knobs on their gear
