What's your latest Epiphany?

I got an Apple TV sub just to watch Ted Lasso.

“Guys have underestimated me my entire life. And for years, I never understood why. It used to really bother me. But then one day, I was driving my little boy to school, and I saw this quote by Walt Whitman, and it was painted on the wall there. It said, ‘Be curious, not judgmental.’ I like that.”

“Taking on a challenge is a lot like riding a horse, isn’t it? If you’re comfortable while you’re doing it, you’re probably doing it wrong.”
I don't understand what the Apple TV does.

I steer well clear of social media. I have been told many ties that I "need a facebook presence" for work. I can't stand it! It's not good for mental health.

I enjoy the internet for what I have been able to learn but I'm very selective about what I look at. As soon as things get even the least bit negative I close the page before I get sucked into it.

I also get tired of the fact that we all want to adopt new technology before all the bugs have been ironed out. Modern digital TV for example is incredible - when it works as designed. But how often does HD TV work properly? When streaming it often breaks up as internet speeds vary. Who uses DVD any more? I like to watch the Tour de France and the picture is forever changing resolution. Even streaming movies, as you pretty much have to because free to air is so abysmal, is fraught with peril. Why don't they get it all working properly before selling it?
This right here. Dropped social media 8 years ago, and I don’t miss it. Forums are my view into stuff and things.

What I don't understand is why a separate device is needed. Couldn't it be like Netflix, an app on devices?
You can access it on apple devices, or online, or on any smart tvs that have it included (I know LG TVs all have it these days, lots of others too but idk which). You just can’t cast it to a TV via chromecast

They could, the incompatibility is part of their 'insert head up butt' *strategy*

Apple has spent 52 years making sure their devices are not compatible with anyone else's, and they're not going to start now. Part arrogance, part pretending they are so good it would be detrimental to their product to make it compatible. MicroSUCK isn't much different.....

Technically, it is working properly. It's trying to deliver the best service it can with the tools (ie. internet connection) which you have. You have a chef in your kitchen making food for you, but you have an unreliable oven and sometimes your onions are rotten. They try their best to make a nice meal but it's not always possible.

I have a Windows install on my main computer, but 95% of the time I just use Linux. There are equivalents to most major software programs, and once you get used to them they're as good as (or better than) the commercial stuff.

I want to use Linux but can't get drivers for too much of my stuff for it to be viable. I know people who got their helix etc to work in Linux but the hoops they had to jump through were crazy.

Yeah, things like that are why I have a legit Windows installation. That's why they invented dual booting.

That's why I've just stuck with windows tbh. If I have to have a Windows install then I'll just use it for everything. I can't be bothered splitting my tasks between two operating systems. I'd rather use Linux though and fingers crossed easier methods of making things work are found before Microsoft starts introducing a subscription service to use their shit.
