What's for dinner?

My kids always whine for "something else" unless it's kraft dinner or pancakes so I threw a cheap can of black beans in a pot as decoy dinner to be refused so they would shut it and eat these sandwiches. Oh also they only mess with bologna right now.... sigh. I miss actually cooking.

My wife and I are trying for a kid. Not having a kid makes it easy for me to imagine saying that something else would be "nothing." Then again, that could lead to said theoretical kid looking like he/she belongs on a Unicef ad. Also, please tell me that's not hair on the plate.

Yeah the "nothing" option is just buying yourself some "I'm hungry" about half an hour later. And no, I try to keep the pubes out of my sammiches. That's just a few decades of forks being dragged across the cheapest plates from ikea.

I make a big pot of beans most weekends and then use them to make meals the rest of the week (tacos, enchiladas, burritos,etc.).

Last night it was bean tacos with pico de gallo and fried panella cheese. Here's a terrible photo, they taste much better than they look!

I didn't take a pic but tonight was "chopped italian". It's just the contents of an italian sub, chopped up. Not sure who thought to do extra work instead of just laying this stuff in the bread and being done with it, but....I think it's better. All the meats, cheeses, peppers, romaine, oil, vinegar, and seasonings get mixed together and seem to be more consistent across sandwich bites this way. Plus if we make too much for one sitting, the next day, after it all chilled together overnight, subjectively better.

Toddlers like chicken nuggets more than tacos
As a general rule, yes.

However, I have a 4yo who will murder some tacos. He's our "Mikey", he'll at least try anything, and there is little that doesn't get eaten. He often eats more than one dinner. Whatever he would have normally and then minutes later, whatever my wife and I have.

On the flipside, my 8yo. Lunch and dinner is 4 Tyson Fun Shapes (dino nugs, each cut into 3 pieces), Nacho Doritos, sea salt veggies straws, and mini Nilla wafers. Only other nuggets allowed are McNuggets and Wendys. Anxiety and Autism make for certain standing items on the grocery list. He does eat some other stuff, but they aren't considered part of lunch/dinner, even if consumed directly adjacent to those two meals. Neurodivergent thinking, I suppose.

Last night I made pizza dough and cut it and shaped it into balls (or boules) this morning (well, technically my wife did the shaping because she used to work in a bakery). I also made a focaccia dough that I just finished. It’ll be ready to bake tomorrow morning.

Here’s the focaccia in the pan, ready for tomorrow:

And the pizza dough before it was cut into boules (I forgot to take a picture of the boules):
