Where Has DIY Let You Down?

This is a relatively new area for me as all-analog and DIY used to be real pedalboard goals for me BUT some of my efforts don't work as well as they could/should in certain scenarios. For me specifically, the FX loop has been an eye opener. Pedals that work wonderfully for me, some for years, in a chain going into the front of a clean amp have just been horrible in the loop. So what about you guys? Where have some of your DIY efforts just not worked out?

I was really wanting to get further into digital builds but that is kind of a tough nut to crack, (at least for me) there isn’t a big foot print I found for DIY projects other than fv-1 and daisy seed…. Fv-1 projects has been a great intro for me but run into its limitations quickly, (or maybe it’s just my lack of knowledge.) with the exception of a couple of people the digital DIY (at least here) are not a very vocal bunch. I wouldn’t say it has let me down but more like elusive to non existent.

TUNER.

Short of sticking an N-tune in a 1590A, which isn't really building your own tuner-pedal, I've found nothing that scratches that ALL-DIY-PEDALBOARD itch.

Need to find some NOS N-Tune as I don't think they're still being made. The N-Tune came in a few different styles to accommodate Strats, Gibsons and maybe a few others (I never saw it offered for Teles, Jazz Bass, etc). Probably the closest I'll get to a DIY tuner.
With Top-Jacks!

The only other let-down so far has been me to DIY! 😸

Then it’s just three 2399s—not going to be much of an improvement if the 2399 bothers you.

Sure, but it's 3x2399, that's three smelly balls, which equals 7197.

The aroma could be like Durian — "smells bad, tastes great."

Hmmm. I hated durian with a passion just because of its smell, but a friend got me to finally try it (after bringing durian into my house WITHOUT my permission 🤬) and... I HATED its taste, too.

Okay, never mind.
