Some of my hot takes:
most ādistortionā pedals are awful. At low gain settings they donāt sound as good as a decent overdrive, and at high gain settings theyāre just a boring alternative to fuzz.
Overdrive pedals arenāt exciting. I mean, I use them too, but if your favorite pedal is an overdrive, you probably donāt play exciting music.
Getting hung up on the nuances of OD pedals is dumb. Most people canāt tell the difference in your live tone, and the ones who do probably donāt give a shit anyway.
dumble voiced pedals shouldnāt exist. I donāt care if itās a supposedly magical sounding ampā there has definitely never been a great song recorded with a dumble. Every song famous for having a dumble on it is more famous for the fact that a dumble was used than for it being an interesting song.
If you have an āalways onā pedal, it means you donāt have enough variety of sound.
Most effects are arguably cooler on bass than on guitar.
