Boss has never told you lies or misled you as to what a pedal is about. They have far more hits than misses and the amount of recorded music and stages that their pedals are on is a testament to both the sound and durability of their brand. Only bedroom players would worry about brand of caps or artwork versus sound.

I’ve had an acoustic since I was 14 (30 years), but I haven’t played that much electric. I played in a punk band for a while in the 90s but there were no pedals involved. Straight into a big ol peavey. That amp blew up and I didn’t pick up an electric again until about a year ago. I grabbed that boss stuff at the tiny mom and pop music store down the street, and then went pedal crazy.

True! Need a pedal to boost a crunch amp (aka TS9/Klon application): SD1/BD1

Need to add a dirt channel to a clean amp: BD1/OD3

Need dirty, ratty raunchy distortion: DS1/MetalZone

And some of their pedals ARE the “gold standard”, such as their Chorus, Delay (analog as well as digital)…. And before Strymo became the “”cool kid” reverb… the Boss Reverb was also the gold standard on every pedalboard.

Yes, but the average-size has enlarged, is bigger than ever before.

I've also noticed that snow shovels, well, any shovel, nowadays comes with a shorter handle than before. Gotta save that 2¢/unit somewhere I guess.
