I am climbing aboard the @steviejr92 fanboy wagon! My daughter really likes them too! I was thinking about using faceplates, but she encouraged me to do a UV print. She said, “Why cover a great color with a faceplate!”

I think I am going to fix up the Byzantium flanger for the purple enclosure. What do you all think would fit best in the copper one?

Those colors are phenomenal. I need to get more fun colors in my life ..
 
Totally blueprinted this Metropoulos Marshall 2203 reproduction chassis down to the 1/32 of an inch. It was interesting to see as I measured it how many of the locations were in the 1/4" to 1/8" range, unfortunately quite a few were also in the 1/32" range. argh!

These dimensions are an inside view, not taking metal thickness, or folding tabs for the spot welds into account. My next pass will be to build that external dimension, which also has to take into account the amount of metal used during bending.

Then I'll grab all the holes from this layout, and place them in mass into that layout which can be turned into a .dxf file for driving a cnc cutting machine. I was on a roll last night and couldn't stop till I had it done!!!!!

But for now, it's time to get back to building the 5F6-A 1959 Bassman....... This was a good break, I feel refreshed are ready to bend wires!!!!!!!!

Finally making some progress on this zonk machine now. Man this was kicking my ass for a few nights. A combo of not being able to get close to the RG Keen suggested voltages for Q1 and my charge pump being noisy as hell was really holding me back. I thought the transistors I was trying were really hissy but then realised that with every set I tried the hiss was the same so I swopped the charge pump it's nice and quiet now.

I also found a few threads on freestompboxes and the dam forum where no one else was hitting the rg keen suggested voltages either. Plus none of the vintage units I've now seen voltages for fall in those ranges. I'm starting to wonder if he meant 0.3-0.5 volts on the emitter of Q1 rather than 3-5 volts on Q1's emitter.

I've got an OC71 in Q1, a NKT278 in Q2 and a OC44 in Q3 at the minute and it's sounding really great. I'm going to pop it in a temporary enclosure tomorrow and take it to band rehearsal so I can try it out at volume.

This is definitely going to make me build some tone benders now. I've been loving my fuzz face with the strat but really not enjoying it with my dual humbucker prs whereas the zonk machine is pretty magic with humbuckers into my Marshall.

Yeah I spoke too soon with this one. After changing the charge pump I initially thought it was quiet and had fixed the problem but I was testing it at really low volume. The next day when I turned it up it was still really hissy. I reflowed all my solder joints, changed transistors again, probed the circuit and could not find the source of the noise.

After getting really annoyed with it I threw another zonk together on vero this afternoon, powered it off a battery and spent some time playing at volume all evening. This one is thankfully silent. I'll throw it in a recycled enclosure so I can test transistors at band rehearsal next week and then build it properly. I'm really enjoying the zonk and will definitely need to build the rest of the tone benders.

Sweet layout! Do you happen to have the transistors' gains/leakage and collector voltages?

It's the layout from tagboard effects. I can get the collector voltages for you tomorrow. In there at the minute is

Q1 - OC70 hfe 69 leakage 140
Q2 - NKT278 HFE 110 Leakage 150
Q3 - Oc44 hfe 70 leakage 0

I'm still going to be tweaking transistors for a bit cause it's a bit too gated at lower gains.

I got it to do a decent R2-D2 for a minute earlier! I can see how people get obsessed. It definitely needs some work. I didn’t know a thing about synths before reading up on this one. Luckily I’ve got a family friend who used to have a synth repair business who’s been walking me through it on FaceTime. I think we settled on replacing all the sliders. Seems like a good excuse to spring for one of those cool solder sucker guns.

The original R2D2 sounds were made by African Gray parrots, guy behind me has a VERY large cage and breeds them. He's got like 50....
