What's for dinner?

Fennel is likely as polarizing as cilantro (same family I believe)— where some people enjoy the taste, while others have a gene that makes cilantro taste like dish soap
Guilty as charged! Cannot stand Cilantro, but I'm okay with fennel as long as it's not to forward. It's an extra taste bud from what I've read.

My wife and I had the normal cilantro lemonish flavor, where as her mother used to taste dish soap!!!

My kids are 7 (twin girls) and they are being very difficult eaters. If they don’t like dinner they usually just nibble and eat their fruit and go to bed. Our rule is that we don’t ever make a second dinner. I really hope this will teach them to try things. 😩
The challenge is real. I think we’ve only ever done an actual second main course once. I made jambalaya and it was spicy. So I made a little shrimp pasta thing for the boys. Both of them love shrimp which is good we eat a fair amount of shellfish (the 7 year old would eat bbq oysters when he was 2, not anymore).

My girls would eat as many mussels as you put in front of them, which I do too. Now I’m not sure they’d touch them…

Same. I had baked salmon with garlic and lemon with a side of broccoli -- trying to eat healthier these days and stay away from carbs, but you all aren't helping with your pictures of bacon and New haven pizza. I mean, bacon is on the menu, but I really want that pizza.

Don't go too far anti-carb, our bodies need protein to replace aging cells, but they run on carbs. These are converted to C6-H12-O6 during digestion and are used by the mitochondria to provide the energy to transform amino acids into needed proteins and to power our muscles....

No, I'm not doing keto -- my doc told me to go on a low carb diet to control my blood sugar. I just have to be mindful of what kind of carbs I take in. I have to eat the slow release carbs, and unfortunately pizza dough isn't one of them.

Tortilla soup this week. For good measure, I threw in a few small chunks of sausage.

Recipe:

2 chicken breasts with dry rub
1 box Chicken Broth
Rotels (spicy)
Corn
Black Beans
Diced Garlic and Onion
A few dashes of Habanero hot sauce

Add garlic, onions and olive oil to InstantPot. Sautee for five minutes with frequent stirring.
After the sautee, pour in broth and mix together.
Add rest of ingredients.
Cook for 12-14 minutes on high in InstantPot.

Cut flour tortillas into strips. Crisp in oven @ 400F for 7-10 minutes.

Line bowl with crispy tortilla strips, add cooked soup. Top with shredded Mexican cheese and avocado. For a little extra, garnish with a few pineapple chunks.

This makes enough to last for 3-4 days. And, it's like eating pure energy!

I was drinking kool-aid and vodka at night. Blood sugar was starting to go up, and I was putting on weight. I switched to bourbon and water and lost 18 pounds in five months and my non-fasting blood sugar is below 100....

woo hoo! Nice to be able to stand up without groaning, lol....

Ever since I broke my hip, I can't stand up with out groaning -- but that's a whole different story.

Not to rub it in but there was bacon on that pizza.

Also, my 5 and 7 year old rejected it so I ate it for lunch today and still have 2 slices left. "No.... don't eat cheerios instead, what will I ever DO with an entire meatzza?"

You're killing me -- pizza is my weakness -- and unfortunately it is also my speciality. Twice a year, I host a pizza party with all the neighbors. I've got my own pizza dough and pizza sauce recipe that I have perfected over may years, but the real secret is fresh mozzarella. Oh man, my mouth is watering right now.

Do you use a pre-ferment for your dough?
