I relented and allowed the EA malware onto my PC

Mass Effect Legendary Edition was on Steam sale for like $8—might still be until the 20th. Lame that you need a 3rd party DRM-come-launcher. DRM just makes me want to acquire it through other means where someone who knows code has stripped out that bloaty nightmareware.
Never played it—yup, I'm
very late to the party. It's definitely a departure from the RPG-lite-shooter hybrids I'm used to, but I'm slowly getting the hang of it. I've been told the LE fixes some jank from the original, too, so that's nice. So weird to me you can't even
jump in this game. Then again, removing that would solve a lot of issues, like Bethesda Bunny Hopping up and over mountains and what not. Makes scripting easier, I assume.
I must be playing it wrong, because I haven't moved squad members around, used their abilities or even used my own biotic abilities despite classing Vanguard. I'm getting my @$$ handed to me, which shows just how complacent I am with my regular titles.
People say
Starfield stole from
No Man's Sky and
Outer Worlds, but I feel like they took a boatload of the Starborn mechanics from
this game, based on playthroughs I've seen. That, and they crossed it with Skyrim shouts.
