Your current game play-through

I'm running a moderately modded install of Skyrim right now (~150 mods) and don't find Vortex to be as bad as people make it out to be. There are definitely a few things that could be made more user-friendly but it's honestly alright. I went with mostly retextures/"modernize the appearance" and "vanilla plus" type mods for this playthrough and I'm enjoying it - specifically avoided the "anime girl" type of mods that are, indeed, way too numerous. Literally cannot get a good hairstyles mod that doesn't look like it was at best lifted from a completely different game (did my best with a couple of decent vanilla retexes). But yeah this game has so much replay value haha
It's more about how you have to click multiple times for each mod, which gets annoying with a lot of mods. Or at least my experience with Vortex has been mostly fine except for that - when using Collections from their site I often ran into issues where it wanted to use two different versions of something and those never autoresolved, I always had to manually disable something. But that's a pretty small issue in the big picture.

I almost got a switch with TotK, but I couldn't justify $500 for eight year old hardware so I Yuzu'd that mofo. Brilliant game but once I was done I haven't been back to either of those last two Zelda games.
I got my Wii chip modded back in the day and then I got a PS3 (still have that) but the limiting selection of their titles and the walled garden frustrates me.
I may be just switching to tubes and guns as hobbies instead. :D
Eh, I don’t mind the walled garden too much given the type and amount of gaming I do these days. I do currently have a Switch, a PS4 and a PS3 (which I haven’t played in many years). The nice thing about the Switch is that the games have very high resale value. I played and sold a few Mario games so they ended up costing me maybe $10 each. Not quite so for the PS4 but you can find really good deals on used games.

Forget Skyrim. Time for another playthrough of Oblivion, amiright? Surely I can add to that 250 hours a decade ago!
I might need to give it another honest shake.

I think the problem (this is all on me) with games for me is "where did I get introduced to the series?" , and unfortunately for TES that's Skyrim. A similar thing happened with Borderlands; I started on 2 (with a lot of co-op hours), and have a really hard time doing co-op play-through with the same friends on the original; even the enhanced, etc. versions, so it's not a "the graphics are worse!" situation.

My current favorite augmented reality game I have been playing is “how far can I take pranking my wife without getting a divorce.” It’s not for the faint of heart, there are a lot of flying shoes on the harder levels.

The original Borderlands was and still is one of my favourite games, I was actually really impressed by BL2 and how much it improved upon the original while bringing a fresh look and fresh gameplay (my only gripe is that I by and large hate the weapon designs, I thought the original was much better in that regard) but I still keep going back to the original on occasion. Main character from back in the day is a Hunter Gunslinger and that could not be more fun.

TBH sometimes it's nice to go back to older games with new hardware and max out everything and still get hundreds of FPS!

My GOG and Epic accounts are full and I will never play all those games in my life time. Right now I‘m playing Elder Scrolls Online. Just finished the base game content. Just when my ESO+ subscription ran out where all the DLC are included. I basically hate game subscriptions. I think about playing Red Dead Redemption for the third time or GTA5 for the 100000 time…. Elite Dangerous or No Man‘s Sky are also my fav but they are neverending. From time to time I sit on my couch with an Odroid Ultra and dive into all the good „retro“ console games from my youth. From NES Zelda to PSX Tony Hawks. THANK YOU ODRDOID!!!!!

I relented and allowed the EA malware onto my PC :P Mass Effect Legendary Edition was on Steam sale for like $8—might still be until the 20th. Lame that you need a 3rd party DRM-come-launcher. DRM just makes me want to acquire it through other means where someone who knows code has stripped out that bloaty nightmareware.

Never played it—yup, I'm very late to the party. It's definitely a departure from the RPG-lite-shooter hybrids I'm used to, but I'm slowly getting the hang of it. I've been told the LE fixes some jank from the original, too, so that's nice. So weird to me you can't even jump in this game. Then again, removing that would solve a lot of issues, like Bethesda Bunny Hopping up and over mountains and what not. Makes scripting easier, I assume.

I must be playing it wrong, because I haven't moved squad members around, used their abilities or even used my own biotic abilities despite classing Vanguard. I'm getting my @$$ handed to me, which shows just how complacent I am with my regular titles.

People say Starfield stole from No Man's Sky and Outer Worlds, but I feel like they took a boatload of the Starborn mechanics from this game, based on playthroughs I've seen. That, and they crossed it with Skyrim shouts.

so I keep seeing all these awesome video clips of Helldivers 2 ... but I am without PS5. Do I bite the bullet now or wait this out for a price break/major hardware revision later in the year?

Onto ME3 now. Didn't skip ME2, just forgot to post anything.

It's interesting to see how the mechanics and leveling/skill systems change from each one. ME2 felt like a big departure… but maybe ME1 was too RPG-y for the CoD bro crowd. Or maybe too slow? IDK, I really enjoyed ME1, so maybe I'm just a curmudgeon.

Glad to see some of the old skill allocation come back in ME3. Much more fluid controls. Still used to ME2 so I'll adapt.

get it on PC, it runs great on my 1080ti and 32gb ram. it's a phenomenal game, the two things that pull me away are pedals and brewing.

by the time I pay for a 1080ti and another 16GB of RAM I could buy the PS5 ... I'm dangerously close to just buying it and seeing if my GTX960 will slog through it
