40 + Year old Boss BF-2 MIJ $$$$$$ versus TC Electronics Thunderstorm $49.00 ?????

Yeah. But what about the diodes? :ROFLMAO:
I read somewhere that these cheap TC pedals are the "Behringer pedals reimagined" or some horse crap.
But hey, it's a great time for guitarists/musicians. So many cheap ways to get cool sounds.

Music Tribe (the parent company behind Behringer and a bunch of other brands at this point) bought TC Electronics back in 2015. So sort of, yes. I think they're still metal enclosures while Behringer is mostly plastic. Whether the quality is worse or not is up in the air, tbh I don't think I hear as many quality complaints about Behringer as I hear complaints about how they're copying hardware (synths mainly lately I think, obviously in the pedal world that is a smaller sin since most pedals are copied from others at least partially).

I'll add, I bought a few of the Behringer fx from a sweetwater sale. The super fuzz clone and the analog delay. The analog delay had MN chips, for $15.99...
How far are we from "buy a Behringer and rip out the chips" is a valid way to source MN chips?

The thought crossed my mind, for sure, when ordering it. But they're SMD.
I bought it back in the second half of covid, and xvive chips where high IIRC. They've come down since.
But who knows, maybe in 40 years we're scavenging thrift stores for Behringer pedals(whilst wearing our VR contacts in our self driving flying cars speeding across a fallen capitalistism distopia of body parts vendors and mattress stores).
